How can I change the banking feed mode

I have never used Bank Feeds or online banking in QuickBooks. However when I try to switch to single user mode, I get a message that says only one user at a time can use bank feeds, etc, and when I click OK, QuickBook freezes. I have to open Task Manager to end QuickBooks. Sometimes it is not
